SITE OVERVIEW: https://360tours.proper-t-photos.ie/tours/1bz5f0nb4RWT DIRECTIONS: Eircode: H71XW94 LOCAL AMENITIES Clifden town is the renowned capital of Connemara, nestled between the foothills of the Twelve Bens mountain range and the indomitable Atlantic Ocean, right on the tip of Europe. Clifden is a thriving hive of activity, synonymous with its annual Art’s Festival which is held every September. Clifden is host to many amenities in-cluding both a primary and secondary school, doctors’ surgeries, nursing home, grocery stores and hospital. There is a great selection of restaurants and eateries minutes’ walk away from Saint Anthony’s offering a variety of meals, including tra-ditional Irish and local seafood. St Anthony’s is ideally located within this cosmopolitan town to explore all there is to offer in the area. Clifden is acclaimed for its traditional music scene and there are many wonderful bars throughout the town with live musicians nightly. Also, the property is minutes away from the Station House Theatre, where many famous acts perform during the year. Apart from the arts and musical scene, there are also many wonderful sights to be-hold in Clifden, including the world famous ‘Sky Road’ which is a wonderful loop drive on an elevated road which looks out over vast views of the Atlantic Ocean and Connemara Coastline. The ruins of Clifden Castle can also be seen from this road, which was the home to Clifden’s town founder, John Darcy. To explore the castle ru-ins, one can access them from a scenic coastal stroll from Clifden Beach. A five minute drive from Saint Anthony’s brings you to the Derrygimlagh Bog Walk, which is five kilometre trail through an area of outstanding natural beauty and steeped with history. Pilots John Alcock and Arthur Whitten Brown crashed-landed in the bog in 1919 after completing the world’s first transatlantic flight. They landed close to a wireless telegraphy station which had been set up 14 years earlier by Ital-ian inventor, Guglielmo Marconi. Today the location of the Marconi wireless station is home to a memorial cairn dedicated to the pair. Close by, in the beautiful Erris-lannan peninsula, there is a monument built for the Alcock and Brown. Just recently a cast bronze statue of the pair has been erected on Clifden town square. Clifden offers a wonderful range of shops and one can also rent bikes from a number of vendors in the town to explore the surrounding area, or the Connemara Green-way, which is undergoing construction at the moment. Currently, there are circa 20 kilometres of the Greenway Completed, which is a beautiful walking/cycling trail that follows the original tracks of the old Clifden to Galway train tracks-a journey our ancestors would have travelled many years ago. The Greenway is a surfaced track which roams through the Connemara countryside and will eventually reach Galway City. Located a 10-minute drive away, you will find Ballyconneely which is a busy little village complete with a bar, shops, a café, church, school and the Connemara Sands Hotel, perfect for a delicious meal. There is also a newly developed community park and playground. The world-renowned Connemara Golf Links and Course is a short drive from the village and there are many white sandy beaches including Mannin, the famous Coral Strand and Aillebrack beach. Aillebrack Pier is home to the Connemara Smokehouse which is the oldest smokehouse in Connemara and one of the oldest in Western Ireland specialising in smoking wild Atlantic Salmon. The stunning seaside village of Roundstone is a 20 minute drive from Aisling House, which is hugely popular with renowned among artists and naturalists for the remarkable beauty of the surrounding mountains and seascapes. It has a traditional craft centre and local activities include Connemara Pottery, Connemara Jewellery and Connemara Instrument making. Connemara Farming, Connemara Fishing, Con-nemara Forestry and Connemara Quarrying are carried out extensively in the area. There is also a busy harbour and many lovely bars, restaurants, cafes and shops to enjoy a drink or peruse local crafts. The Connemara National Park located 15 minutes from Saint Anthony’s in Letter-frack provides a selection of lovely walks from wooded to mountainside, including one to the t
